Dental fillings can be used to fix cavities, and other minor problems with your teeth.

When most people hear the words “dental filling” they usually think of just one thing: a cavity. Fillings are used for repairing cavities. But they are also great for fixing other minor problems with your teeth such as minor chips or fractures. If you have a cavity, or you have chipped a tooth, talk to Dr. Kimberly Fee about how a filling can help.

This will entail removing tooth decay or preparing the surface, and placing a filling or using a filling to return a tooth to its proper shape and function. Depending on the location and function of the tooth, the dentist may recommend an amalgam or composite fillings. An amalgam filling is usually used for a back tooth that needs to withstand the pressures of chewing. Composite fillings which can be shaded to match the color of your tooth are often used for a tooth that is easily visible to other people and does not receive much biting or chewing pressure.
